So wearing a good rain jacket in a rainy day will not only keep you from the drops but will also allow your skin to breathe normally and you won’t get wet from your own trapped perspiration. Rain jacket materials:Quality rain jackets are made of several sorts of fabrics, coatings and films for keeping you dry and comfortable in the rain. Most often, rain jacket coating is made of silicone wadding or polyurethane for thermal insulation like regular jacket and to keep water from reaching your skin. Coatings are applied to the inside of the water-resistant fabric (shell). The shell may be treated with special thin finishes on the outside in order to help water roll off. All these thin layers (films) and coatings are designed to have tiny pores which make the rain jacket breathable. Regarding the price, they will be ok for emergency situations, when a rain is not really expected and when in case it start raining you will not need to wear it more than an hour lets say. So the first thing to consider is breathable material and coating.The best choice on rain jacket of course depends on your individual needs and how do you plan to use it. Is it supposed to keep you dry only or both dry and warm? Will you be wearing it for extensive period of time in the rain or is it just for emergency? Whatever rain jacket you get, you won’t be wearing it at home but for outdoor activities. In that respect, make sure you will be able to easily pack it along the rest of your luggage. Well it will always get some space in your backpack and will make it a bit heavier but it is worth taking it with you – it is better to be safe than sorry. A good lightweight rain jacket would be breathable and would dry out fast if it gets wet. It can keep you dry all day in light rain and only several hours in more heavy rain. Lightweight rain jackets are relatively inexpensive in comparison with the mountain rain jackets. The mountain jackets provide stronger protection in heavy rain extensive time of wearing.
