Beach umbrellas

Beach umbrellaDo not forget your beach umbrella for the long planned beach vacation – put it on the top of your list next to the beer. Wearing a sunscreen and sun hat is not enough protective for a day spend under the sun.

What size beach umbrella is needed?

Sun protection should always be considered when spending more time on the beach. Beach umbrellas are excellent solution for protecting your skin from intensive UV rays. Before buying a beach umbrella you have to determine what style and size will best fit your needs. The size depends on how many people will usually be using the umbrella at a time. The spread (diameter) of an open umbrella is referred to its size. Most beach umbrellas are 6 feet in diameter and any smaller one may just not give you enough shade and comfort on the beach. Besides if you are not going alone to the beach you better get bigger size umbrella.

Useful beach umbrella features:

The important features and characteristics of the beach umbrellas that should be taken into account are:
  • - poles and frames should be lightweight so you don’t have to carry a heavy umbrella around the beach;
  • Picture of beach umbrellas
  • - the fabric of beach umbrellas should block a big percent of UV rays from the sun which are considered harmful to humans. Please note that quality beach umbrellas will usually block more than 95% of UV rays which is considered high sun protection factor;
  • - a carry bag is always needed and is usually included in the price of the beach umbrella but you better make sure it really is. Carry bags are often made either of the same fabric as the umbrella or transparent vinyl material. Some carry bags feature separate slot for the pole;
  • - wind vent are always welcome as they help the beach umbrella resist on wind blows. In addition a durable and flexible pole is needed to deal with serious wind issues.
  • - The pole often consists of 2 or 3 parts which makes the beach umbrella more compact to carry with you or in the car. However telescopic pole is better option as it allows you to adjust the height of the umbrella for maximum comfort. Wooden umbrella poles have been used for many years but they easily show signs of wearing out soon enough. That is why the compact steel poles are considered more durable and preferred option;
  • - tilt beach umbrellas will allow you to adjust them for achieving maximum shade wherever the position of the sun is.
Big beach umbrellaSome beach umbrellas may be for use on sand or soft ground only. These are usually designed with special anchoring for easy and deep sand penetration. The anchor in that case is shaped like screw so you can easily and securely fix the beach umbrella deep in the sand with only several spins of the pole. Then you can stay relaxed even in a windy day on the beach as your umbrella won’t be blown away that easy.
Beach umbrellas may be produced with nylon instead of cotton fabric. The nylon umbrellas have several advantages like less weight, better fade resistance and drying faster after getting wet from a sudden summer rain.
Apart from individual umbrellas bigger beach umbrellas are offered for commercial use or private beaches. These are too heavy to be carried around so they usually stay on the beach for the whole season and are only opened in the morning and closed in the evening.
